Siknikt

  • Siknikt

Siknikt is a region in Mi’kmagi, the home of the Mi’kmaq from time immemorial through to the future. We cherish the opportunity to work, play, and share in this sacred place. In this place, people stewarded the resources and culture by becoming one with the land we now share. Cumberland County Museum and Archives is dedicated to speaking the Truth of history, and working to aid in the true Reconciliation of peoples and cultures to this past. In doing so, we feel the history must be told in the voice and language of a people who have more than 10, 000 years of connection to time, place, and people. This page is dedicated to the collection of and way-pointing to materials that speak to Migmawey as a spiritual, emotional, and social reality that exists beyond the Colonial interpretation of history. Please respect the territory of the past, present and future as you hear the voices of Elders and traditions within these resources.
